Physical Therapy Assistant

Responsibilities

• Perform treatment and provide exercise instruction and patient education following the established plan of care
• Follow state specific laws governing the provision of physical therapy in home care
• Instruct and aid patients in active and passive exercise, muscle re-education, gait, functional, ADL, transfer, safety, and prosthetic training
• Observe, record, and report patient response to treatment and changes in condition to the supervising PT, nurse supervisor, or physician
• Coordinate care with other members of the healthcare team
• Instruct patients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare team members in therapy areas within scope

Requirements

• Current license, registration, or certification to assist in the practice of physical therapy in the state of practice
• Current driver's license and vehicle insurance
• Access to a dependable vehicle or public transportation
• Availability to work a weekend rotation

Preferred Qualifications

• Current CPR certification or ability to complete within 90 days of hire
• Ability to perform physical tasks required for patient care, including lifting, transferring, and assisting with mobility
