Physical Therapy Assistant

Responsibilities

• Provide direct physical therapy services as planned and supervised by a physical therapist
• Treat patients to relieve pain, restore function, and maintain maximum performance
• Aid patients in therapeutic exercises, muscle reeducation, gait, and functional training
• Utilize physical agents such as heat, cold, ultrasound, and massage
• Observe and report patient reactions and changes in condition to the leadership team
• Instruct patients and families in the use of Durable Medical Equipment (DME)
• Maintain accurate clinical, conference, and progress notes

Requirements

• Completion of an APTA-approved physical therapy assistant program
• Valid Physical Therapy Assistant License in the state of practice
• Knowledge of care for adult and geriatric populations
• Proficiency in using electronic medical records
• Reliable transportation and valid automobile insurance

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years of experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant
• Previous experience in hospital or home care settings
