Physical Therapy Assistant

Responsibilities

• Progress patients skillfully and safely through levels of treatment
• Consult with supervising Physical Therapist regarding patient progress and condition changes
• Document all treatment and patient interactions according to community policies
• Provide emotional and social support to patients and residents
• Maintain a positive and professional demeanor toward residents, families, and co-workers
• Strive to maintain a safe working environment and prevent accidents
• Provide relevant education to patients
• Report changes in residents' physical condition or behavior
• Develop and maintain effective communication with the rehabilitation team

Requirements

• Valid State Physical Therapy License/Registration
• Graduate of an APTA accredited school of physical therapy
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience, or 1 year in acute care, skilled nursing, or AL/MC
• Ability to lift 50 pounds dead weight alone
• Physical ability to walk, bend, stand, and reach constantly
• Fine motor skills for accurate reporting and handling therapeutic equipment
