Physical Therapy Aide

Responsibilities

• Serve as a scribe for recording and editing therapeutic exercises under supervision
• Assist patients with heat/ice packs, paraffin dips, pool assistance, and exercise equipment
• Monitor patient motion and physical exertion levels
• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on treatment equipment
• Educate patients on proper equipment use and exercise routines
• Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize equipment and supplies
• Provide front desk coverage, including answering calls and assisting with scheduling
• Maintain physical therapy supplies inventory

Requirements

• Knowledge of Anatomy & Kinesiology
• Knowledge of therapy equipment and strengthening techniques
• Ability to observe and record changes in patients' physical condition
• Ability to communicate effectively and maintain patient confidentiality
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
• Must be able to travel to various clinic locations in Central and Eastern Long Island

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of patient behavior and needs
• Knowledge of restraint and aggressive behavior management practices
