Photonics Technical Manager

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the RLS LCM team in Ottawa and oversee performance across multiple global sites
• Drive the development, enhancement, and maintenance of test automation software, sequences, and instructions
• Influence global manufacturing test strategy and drive Design for Testability reviews throughout the R&D lifecycle
• Support prototype builds and validation testing for alpha and beta platforms in partnership with NPI and Repair teams
• Collaborate with Contract Manufacturers to ensure robust prototype and production-level testing
• Optimize test methods and scale capabilities to meet high-volume production needs
• Integrate test stations into the corporate manufacturing ecosystem, including process flows and automation interfaces

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Security, Computer, or Electronics)
• 10+ years of experience in Test Engineering, Failure Analysis, or Lifecycle Management within electronics or contract manufacturing
• Hands-on software development experience in C#, Python, TestStand, or Lua
• Proven experience working with Contract Manufacturers (e.g., Sanmina, Celestica, Flex, USI, Jabil)
• Ability to navigate PCB schematics and laboratory test equipment with confidence
• Strong technical expertise in telecom product testing and debugging
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with electro-optics secure product development and testing
• Familiarity with Ciena optical modem technologies
• Working knowledge of security standards, test protocols, and automated test systems
• Curiosity to explore and adopt new technologies like cloud automation and AI
