About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day lab operations and maintain an organized, inspection-ready environment
- Manage lab inventory, supplies, and kit preparation across multiple studies
- Perform phlebotomy, specimen collection, and processing including centrifuging, aliquoting, and labeling
- Conduct point-of-care testing such as urine drug screens and pregnancy tests
- Assist with patient visits including vital signs, ECGs, and study-related procedures
- Handle specimen shipping per IATA guidelines and maintain detailed logs
- Record lab data accurately in electronic systems and ensure GCP, OSHA, and HIPAA compliance
- Support audit readiness and quality control efforts
- Partner with coordinators, investigators, and clinical staff to ensure efficient study visits
Requirements
- Certified phlebotomist in Maryland preferred
- Highly proficient in venipuncture including difficult draws and challenging sticks
- Experience with diverse patient populations including geriatric and pediatric patients
- Familiarity with medical terminology and basic laboratory procedures
- Comfort working with lab equipment, documentation, and regulated processes
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple responsibilities
- Proficiency with basic computer systems such as Excel, Outlook, and EMRs
- Team-first mindset with willingness to support broader research activities
- Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with participants, providers, and sponsors
- Passion for improving patient outcomes through research
