Phlebotomist/Lab Technician

Responsibilities

• Collect, label, and prepare blood specimens for patient testing using venipunctures and finger sticks
• Maintain specimen integrity through aseptic techniques and strict adherence to department procedures
• Verify patient identification and test requisitions to ensure accuracy
• Maintain applicable logs, file reports, and assemble appropriate patient charts with lab reports
• Perform glucose testing and monitor levels, recording and reporting results to providers
• Conduct waived lab testing and bleeding-time tests, notifying pathologists of abnormal results
• Collaborate with nursing staff to collect therapeutic drug-monitoring assays
• Maintain a safe and secure work environment by complying with all legal regulations and standards

Requirements

• High school diploma
• Successful completion of an accredited Phlebotomy or Certified Medical Assistant program
• At least one year of experience working in a hospital or doctor's office
• Experience working with pediatric patients and performing waived lab testing
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and office practices
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• National certification
• Bi-lingual capabilities
