Phlebotomist/Lab Technician

Responsibilities

• Collect, label, and prepare blood specimens for patient testing using venipunctures and finger sticks
• Verify patient identification and test requisitions to ensure accuracy
• Maintain specimen integrity using aseptic techniques and following department isolation procedures
• Perform waived lab testing, including glucose monitoring and bleeding-time tests
• Maintain accurate logs, file reports, and assemble appropriate patient charts with lab results
• Collaborate with nursing staff to collect therapeutic drug-monitoring assays
• Monitor and record quality control results, reporting any discrepancies to supervisors or pathologists
• Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment in compliance with legal regulations

Requirements

• High school diploma
• Successful completion of an accredited Phlebotomy or Certified Medical Assistant program
• At least one year of experience working in a hospital or doctor's office
• Experience working with pediatric patients and performing waived lab testing
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and office practices
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• National certification
• Bi-lingual capabilities
