About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and skin punctures with expertise using Epic Beaker/Rover
- Package specimens properly for delivery via pneumatic tube system or hand delivery
- Provide collection instructions to patients and receive self-collected samples
- Check-in patients and assist them to the draw room as needed
- Stock blood drawing areas and carts while maintaining clean, safe, and sterile environments
- Resolve patient order issues and communicate collection concerns with clinic staff
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited phlebotomy program
- Ability to perform venipunctures and capillary punctures according to CLSI guidelines
- Thorough knowledge of asepsis, manual dexterity, and accuracy
- Ability to utilize institutional computer systems and follow established procedures
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with patients and colleagues
- Ability to perform in stressful situations and handle large patient volumes
- Physical ability to stand, stoop, push, lift, and walk distances as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Phlebotomy (ASCP) certification or eligibility
- One to two years of practical phlebotomy experience with references
