Phlebotomist

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws using straight or butterfly needles
• Collect various specimens (e.g., urine or fecal) according to established procedures
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and ensure 100% accuracy
• Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperature protocols
• Maintain a calm environment to reduce patient anxiety during the collection process
• Update patient information and record maintenance and decontamination data
• Comply with all OSHA and DEP regulations
• Greet customers courteously and answer telephone inquiries regarding laboratory results
• Ability to float to other office locations to support critical staffing needs

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1+ years of experience performing phlebotomy procedures
• 1+ years of experience processing patient specimens for testing in a laboratory setting

Preferred Qualifications

• Medical Assistant certification
• Phlebotomy certification
