About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects with the capacity to make gifts of $10,000 or more
  • Conduct prospect identification, research, and qualification to build a robust fundraising pipeline
  • Develop and execute donor-specific strategies for engagement, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
  • Perform face-to-face visits, virtual meetings, and written communications to build meaningful relationships with alumni and donors
  • Prepare and present compelling gift proposals, solicitation strategies, and case statements
  • Collaborate with campus leaders, faculty, and advancement colleagues to coordinate fundraising initiatives
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all prospect activity within Raiser’s Edge NXT
  • Represent Elmhurst University professionally as a frontline ambassador at events and University programs

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, or a related field
  • 2–4 years of proven major gift fundraising experience, preferably in higher education
  • Demonstrated success in cultivating, soliciting, and closing major gifts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and fundraising CRMs, specifically Raiser's Edge NXT
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines
  • Willingness to travel and participate in evening and weekend donor activities as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education or large nonprofit comprehensive campaign environments
  • Experience collaborating with academic leaders and volunteers in fundraising efforts
  • Deep understanding of donor pipeline development and moves management strategies
