Pharmacy Technician

Responsibilities

• Prepare medications and supplies for dispensing under the supervision of a pharmacist, including IV admixtures, chemotherapy, and pediatric medications.
• Transport medications, IVs, TPNs, and other pharmacy supplies to nursing units and clinics.
• Manage inventory by ordering drugs and supplies, receiving shipments, and restocking shelves and Omnicell machines.
• Facilitate timely medication distribution by prioritizing orders and handling STAT requests.
• Maintain work areas, including the IV Room and manufacturing areas, through regular cleaning and restocking.
• Perform monthly inspections of nursing units, clinics, and pharmacy satellite areas.
• Assist with outpatient prescriptions and cashiering duties in the Outpatient Pharmacy as needed.

Requirements

• Current Illinois Pharmacy Technician License.
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Minimum of one year of pharmacy experience, or completion of an ASHP approved pharmacy technician vocational course.
• Knowledge of basic pharmacy practices, procedures, medications, and medical supplies.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
• Good communication skills for interacting with patients and medical staff.
• Proficiency with computers and keyboard usage.

Preferred Qualifications

• Illinois Pharmacy Technician Certification is highly desirable.
