Pharmacy Technician

Responsibilities

• Prepare medications and supplies for dispensing under pharmacist supervision, including IV admixtures, chemotherapy, and oral suspensions.
• Transport medications, IVs, TPNs, and pharmacy supplies to nursing units and clinics.
• Manage inventory by ordering drugs and supplies, receiving shipments, and restocking pharmacy shelves and Omnicell machines.
• Facilitate timely medication distribution by prioritizing orders and handling STAT requests in the absence of a pharmacist.
• Perform monthly inspections of nursing units, clinics, and pharmacy areas.
• Maintain work areas, including the IV Room, manufacturing area, and satellite pharmacies, through regular cleaning and restocking.
• Assist with outpatient prescriptions and cashiering duties in the Outpatient Pharmacy as needed.

Requirements

• Current Illinois Pharmacy Technician License.
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Minimum of one year of pharmacy experience, or completion of an ASHP-approved pharmacy technician vocational course.
• Knowledge of basic pharmacy practices, procedures, and medications.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
• Proficiency with computers and keyboard usage.
• Ability to work effectively as a team player in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Illinois Pharmacy Technician Certification.
