Pharmacy Technician

Responsibilities

• Accurately prepare medications for pharmacist review before dispensing
• Perform preparation and labeling of IV admixtures and maintain associated records
• Package oral and injectable medications in unit-of-use containers using mechanical and manual procedures
• Deliver medications to patient care areas within appropriate time frames
• Ensure drug items are appropriately billed and expired medications are removed from inventory
• Assist pharmacists with medication profile maintenance and drug stock management
• Maintain cleanliness and order within the pharmacy department
• Adhere to all state and federal pharmacy laws, HIPAA privacy rules, and hospital policies

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Certification program
• Registered Pharmacy Technician eligible for state registration/licensure
• 1+ years of experience in a pharmacy setting
• Proficiency with pharmacy software
• Ability to read and comprehend physician orders relating to medications
• Availability to work 40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital or outpatient setting
• Experience handling and preparing compounded medications (sterile and non-sterile)
• PTCB/CPhT certification
