Pharmacy Technician

Responsibilities

• Prepare and dispense medications by measuring, counting, labeling, and packaging prescriptions under pharmacist supervision
• Process prescription orders accurately by entering patient and prescription data into pharmacy systems
• Prepare and compound medications, including IV admixtures and sterile products, following hospital protocols and USP standards
• Process medication orders from electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) with accuracy and urgency
• Deliver medications to patient care areas, including nursing units and automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs)
• Maintain medication inventory by restocking, tracking controlled substances, and monitoring expiration dates
• Support medication safety initiatives through proper documentation, labeling, and double-checks
• Comply with all hospital policies and regulatory standards, including Joint Commission and state/federal regulations

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Active applicable state Pharmacy Technician license in good standing
• Recent work experience as a Pharmacy Technician, ideally in an inpatient setting
