Pharmacy Technician

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist with serving patients and maintaining the pharmacy department
• Sterilize surfaces and equipment and prepare the pharmacy for opening
• Greet customers and answer questions
• Receive prescriptions and check their validity
• Process prescriptions electronically and ensure all information is complete and accurate
• Resolve issues such as rejected insurance claims
• Select appropriate medicine and measure dosages to fill prescriptions
• Sort, stock, label medication, and monitor inventory
• Undertake administrative tasks and record-keeping
• Comply with security measures, quality standards, and HIPAA/HITECH/FWA regulations
• Package orders and coordinate medication delivery with patients and couriers
• Communicate with insurance carriers and handle incoming/outgoing calls

Requirements

• At least one year of proven experience as a pharmacy technician
• Fluent bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
• Knowledge of medication and dosage calculations, pharmacy law, and medical terminology
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification if required by the state
• Successful completion of a pharmacy technician program if required by the state
• Strong organizational and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Micro Merchant pharmacy system
