About the role

Responsibilities

  • Identify and fill medications, surgical kits, medication carts, and emergency crash carts
  • Prepare sterile compounds and IV admixtures, including hazardous medications, chemotherapy, and biologics
  • Fill and label individual patient medications according to computer-generated profiles
  • Package medications into unit-of-use forms and maintain accurate preparation logs
  • Deliver medications to nursing units and automated dispensing cabinets
  • Maintain inventory in automated dispensing cabinets and rotate floor stock to reduce waste
  • Assist in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing pharmaceuticals and supplies
  • Perform unit inspections and emergency cart checks to control medications outside the department
  • Appropriately handle controlled substances, including security, reconciliation, and accounting for waste or returns
  • Maintain accurate logs, records, and patient charge documentation

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Pharmacy Technician License (IDFPR)
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through PTCB or NHA

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year or less of related work experience demonstrating familiarity with pharmacy routines and procedures
