Pharmacy Technician

Responsibilities

• Manage medication distribution for inpatient and outpatient dispensing, including filling automated dispensing machines and patient drawers
• Prepare sterile products using aseptic technique
• Perform pharmacy rounds to deliver and retrieve medications and ensure accurate billing
• Maintain pharmacy inventory by ordering, receiving, shelving, and monitoring for outdated medications or shortages
• Respond to telephone inquiries and route them appropriately
• Maintain a neat and orderly pharmacy environment, including cleaning and medication disposal
• Assist in staff development and participate in quality assessment projects

Requirements

• Active licensure with the Montana Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician
• Proficiency in aseptic technique for preparing sterile products
• Strong understanding of medical terminology and mathematical calculations
• Proficient typing and computer skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work as part of a collaborative team and manage sensitive situations with professionalism

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a hospital pharmacy setting
• Experience with Pharmacy Systems and Electronic Health Records (EHR)
