Pharmacy Technician III

Responsibilities

• Prepare medication orders for inpatients and prescriptions for outpatients
• Perform sterile product compounding and prepare intravenous admixture solutions
• Prepare cytotoxic agents using aseptic and protective procedures
• Manage inventory levels, floor stock requisitions, and emergency medication systems
• Deliver medications to nursing units and maintain controlled substance records
• Enter new drug orders and refill information into computerized patient profiles
• Assist in maintaining accurate narcotic perpetual inventories
• Ensure compliance with hazardous waste collection and disposal procedures

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Illinois Pharmacy Technician License (IDFPR)
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through PTCB or ExCPT through NHA (required for those licensed after 2008; new licensees have 2 years to obtain certification)

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of a Technician Training Program
• Previous experience working as a Pharmacy Technician
