About the role
Responsibilities
- Prepare medications and supplies for dispensation, including IV admixtures, chemotherapy, and pediatric IVs, under pharmacist supervision
- Perform non-hazardous and hazardous compounding in the IV room
- Transport medications, TPNs, and pharmacy supplies to nursing units and clinics
- Manage medication inventory by ordering drugs, stocking shelves, and replenishing Omnicell machines
- Facilitate timely distribution of medications by prioritizing orders and handling STAT requests
- Maintain work areas, including the IV room and manufacturing areas, through regular cleaning and restocking
- Assist in the training of new pharmacy staff and perform outpatient prescription and cashiering duties as needed
Requirements
- Current Illinois Pharmacy Technician License
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Proven experience in IV room non-hazardous and hazardous compounding
- Minimum of one year of pharmacy experience or completion of an ASHP approved pharmacy technician vocational course
- Strong knowledge of basic pharmacy practices, medications, and medical supplies
- Excellent attention to detail and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as a team player in a fast-paced clinical environment
