Pharmacy Technician II

Responsibilities

• Prepare medications and supplies for dispensation, including IV admixtures, chemotherapy, and pediatric IVs, under pharmacist supervision
• Perform non-hazardous and hazardous compounding in the IV room
• Transport medications, TPNs, and pharmacy supplies to nursing units and clinics
• Manage medication inventory by ordering drugs, stocking shelves, and replenishing Omnicell machines
• Facilitate timely distribution of medications by prioritizing orders and handling STAT requests
• Maintain work areas, including the IV room and manufacturing areas, through regular cleaning and restocking
• Assist in the training of new pharmacy staff and perform outpatient prescription and cashiering duties as needed

Requirements

• Current Illinois Pharmacy Technician License
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Proven experience in IV room non-hazardous and hazardous compounding
• Minimum of one year of pharmacy experience or completion of an ASHP approved pharmacy technician vocational course
• Strong knowledge of basic pharmacy practices, medications, and medical supplies
• Excellent attention to detail and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively as a team player in a fast-paced clinical environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Illinois Pharmacy Technician Certification
