Pharmacy Technician II

Responsibilities

• Prepare medications and supplies for dispensing, including IV admixtures, chemotherapy, and pediatric IVs, under pharmacist supervision
• Manage pharmacy inventory by ordering drugs and supplies, receiving shipments, and stocking shelves across various locations
• Transport medications, TPNs, and pharmacy equipment to nursing units and clinics
• Maintain Omnicell machines by adding patient-specific medications and returning discontinued or outdated stock
• Facilitate timely medication distribution by prioritizing orders and handling STAT requests in the absence of a pharmacist
• Perform monthly inspections of nursing units, clinics, and pharmacy areas
• Assist in the training of new pharmacy staff and perform outpatient prescription and cashiering duties as needed

Requirements

• Current Illinois Pharmacy Technician License
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Proven experience in IV room non-hazardous and hazardous compounding
• Minimum of one year of pharmacy experience, or completion of an ASHP-approved pharmacy technician vocational course
• Strong knowledge of basic pharmacy practices, procedures, and medications
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
• Proficiency with computers and keyboard usage

Preferred Qualifications

• Illinois Pharmacy Technician Certification
