Pharmacy Technician

Responsibilities

• Receive and process written, electronic, or faxed prescription orders
• Retrieve demographic, insurance, and medication allergy information from EHR
• Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs
• Fill medication bottles and affix labels
• Reconstitute pharmaceutical products under pharmacist guidance
• File and retrieve hard-copy prescriptions
• Maintain equipment and work areas
• Establish and maintain patient profiles
• Manage incoming supplies and verify quantities against invoices
• Answer telephones and operate cash registers
• Assist customers with simple inquiries and refer clinical questions to the pharmacist

Requirements

• GED or high school diploma
• At least two years of related experience
• Knowledge of pharmacy terminology
• Ability to use computers and Windows-based software
• Must be responsible, precise, and organized

Preferred Qualifications

• Pharmacy Technician Certification
