Pharmacy Tech

Responsibilities

• Perform manufacturing, packaging, and labeling of drug products under pharmacist supervision
• Apply department procedures for purchasing, storage, preparation, dispensing, and delivery of medications
• Manage controlled substances in accordance with established department protocols
• Prepare unit-dose packages from bulk stock following departmental procedures
• Perform inventory functions for automatic dispensing cabinets accurately and timely
• Conduct calculations required for common dosage determinations
• Maintain clean and orderly working areas and complete required documentation
• Communicate unexpected low inventory levels to the purchasing agent
• Respond to telephone inquiries regarding medication storage, preparation, and delivery

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid California Board of Pharmacy Technician (PHT) License
• Basic math skills for dosage calculations
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, medical terms, and abbreviations
• Ability to communicate effectively in a professional manner

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) designation
• Previous experience working as a Pharmacy Technician
