About the role

Responsibilities

  • Verify prescription orders for legend medications, OTC products, Med/Surg items, and Schedule III–V controlled substances
  • Perform drug utilization reviews, prescription assessments, and medication cross-checks
  • Support advanced automation, medication verification, packaging, labeling, and quality assurance workflows
  • Identify and report unusual doses, incorrect drugs, or potential medication mix-ups according to policy
  • Supervise contracted Pharmacy Technicians and ensure compliance with VA, TJC, and SOP standards
  • Dispense medications within corporate and regulatory guidelines, including controlled substance requirements

Requirements

  • ACPE-accredited PharmD or B.S. in Pharmacy
  • Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in a U.S. state or territory
  • U.S. Citizenship and proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Ability to work assigned shifts, including potential evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong attention to detail in high-volume, metrics-driven environments
  • Proficiency with pharmacy information systems and automated dispensing technologies
  • Understanding of safety precautions for handling hazardous materials and waste

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1–3+ years of experience in hospital, central-fill, mail order, or high-volume outpatient pharmacy settings
  • Experience with DUR, quality control, controlled substances, automation, or e-prescribing workflows
  • PGY1 residency, board certification, or process-improvement experience
  • Familiarity with VA systems such as VistA/CPRS
