Pharmacist

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret prescription orders, carefully checking dosages, allergies, interactions, and therapeutic appropriateness.
• Collaborate with medical and nursing staff regarding drug therapy, selection, and availability.
• Prepare, dispense, and maintain accurate patient profiles for all medications according to departmental procedures.
• Apply specialized knowledge of pharmacology to meet the needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
• Provide drug information and patient education to patients, RNs, MDs, and other healthcare professionals.
• Oversee inventory management and ensure the maintenance of properly dated stock.
• Monitor medication use to ensure cost-effective and safe treatment outcomes.
• Supervise pharmacy technicians and review work performed by ancillary personnel.

Requirements

• Pharmacy degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy.
• Current California Board of Pharmacy License.
• Proficiency in complying with hospital policies, state and federal healthcare laws, and USP 797 standards.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to handle stressful situations professionally.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of an ASHP-accredited pharmacy residency.
• Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy.
• Previous acute-care hospital experience as a Clinical Pharmacist.
• Membership in ASHP and/or CSHP.
