About the role
Responsibilities
- Identify potential pathogenic variants that cause epilepsy.
- Develop molecular modeling of wild type and mutant forms of ion channels using bioinformatics tools like Homology Modeling.
- Validate models for functions such as ion conductance or ion influx through Molecular Dynamics Simulation.
- Perform high-throughput in silico virtual screening of drug molecules from drug bank databases using Molecular Docking Studies on the BIOVIA platform.
- Evaluate lead targets by running Molecular Dynamics Simulations to test their effect on ion channel function.
- Support the experimental validation of potential repurposed drugs for epilepsy treatment.
Requirements
- Current enrollment in a Ph.D. program.
- Strong understanding of pharmacogenetics literature.
- Technical expertise in Molecular Dynamics simulation, specifically using Discovery Studio.
- Demonstrated working knowledge and preliminary simulation results supporting the project goals.
- Ability to conduct independent research and collaborate with research advisors and CoE Research Scientists.
