Petroleum Inspector

Responsibilities

• Physically sample, measure, and take temperatures of vessel and shore tanks using API procedures
• Calculate and report quantities of bulk liquid or gaseous hydrocarbon transfers
• Perform full reconciliation of transfers between shore tanks, barges, or ships
• Complete required reports using SGS Ship Inspection Report (SIR) or Site Acceptance Test (SAT) systems
• Coordinate with client representatives, US Customs, vessel personnel, and government agents
• Maintain regular communication with business unit office staff regarding job status
• Adhere to SGS Code of Integrity and all company safety practices

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid Driver’s License
• Basic proficiency in English
• Basic mathematical skills including fractions and decimals
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
• Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch frequently

Preferred Qualifications

• 6 months to 2 years of transferable industry experience
• Completion of internal Inspector Development Program
• Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
• International Federation of Inspection Agencies (IFIA) Certification
