Personal Injury Legal Assistant

Responsibilities

• Scan and save all incoming mail, emails, and faxes
• Calendar all notices regarding defense examinations, depositions, arbitration, mediation, and court notices
• Send notice letters to clients regarding DME, depositions, arbitrations, mediation, and court appearances
• Arrange for court reporters, translators, and videographers for depositions
• Confirm all attorney appearances the day before events
• Obtain medical request narrative reports under direction of paralegal or attorney
• Compile and arrange medical records in electronic files for Form A responses
• Draft cover letters for amendments and serve with attachments on defense
• Schedule Plaintiff Medical Exams (PME) and compile relevant medical records and MRI films
• Handle incoming calls and funding requests

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Legal Assistant working on NY Personal Injury cases
• Ability to take direction via email and verbally
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with Windows and MS Office Applications (Outlook Calendar, Word, Excel)

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Adobe PDF
• Past experience as an Administrative Assistant on NY Personal Injury cases
