Perinatal Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and operational support to licensed nursing staff and providers in the LDRP room
• Prepare supplies for cases, set up and maintain sterile fields, and pass instruments to surgeons
• Assist with setup, during, and after delivery in the LDRP room under RN supervision
• Verify accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the LDRP nurse
• Prepare instruments for cleaning and re-sterilization and assist with room turnover
• Maintain aseptic technique and ensure proper disposal of sharps and biohazardous waste
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team by reviewing preference cards and procuring supplies
• Communicate effectively with patients, staff members, and physicians

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or higher level degree
• American Heart Association BLS certification
• Two years of experience in maternity services, operating room, or a certified/licensed direct patient care role
• Ability to scrub for OB/GYN cases and set up delivery tables
• Knowledge of surgical asepsis, infection control, and obstetrical/gynecological instrumentation

Preferred Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Operating Room Technician or Surgical Technician program
• Previous experience as an Obstetric Surgical Technician
