Performance Validation Engineer II

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine steady-state and transient engine cycle performance models from preliminary concept to production.
• Collect and analyze engine test rig data to calibrate performance models and identify necessary station parameter adjustments.
• Validate that engine designs meet technical requirements for performance and endurance, providing feedback to design teams.
• Transform test data to ambient conditions and prepare comprehensive performance reports for ground and altitude testing.
• Optimize engine performance cycles to balance thrust, fuel consumption, and thermal limits for mission-specific requirements.
• Conduct trade-off studies to evaluate the impact of design changes and new technologies at various operating conditions.
• Collaborate with turbomachinery and combustor design teams to ensure aerothermal requirements are met.
• Work with testing teams to align test plans and procedures with international standards such as PTC 22 and ISO2314.
• Participate in root cause analysis for technical issues encountered during engine testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Thermal Power Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5–8 years of experience in gas turbine engine performance engineering (or PhD plus 4 years minimum).
• Proven experience with 0D engine cycle modelling tools such as GasTurb, NPSS, or TTECTrA.
• Proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, or Python scripting.
• Hands-on experience in engine or test rig setup, execution, and data acquisition.
• Strong understanding of aero engine performance, thermodynamics, and aerothermal systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical reporting skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to 1D/2D simulation methods.
• Familiarity with advanced engine performance testing and validation methodologies.
