Performance Based Navigation (PBN) Engineer

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for the aircraft integration and sustainment of PBN capabilities, including RNAV, RNP, GNSS approach capabilities, and modern Flight Management Systems (FMS).
• Contribute to technology advancement in PBN capabilities to ensure military aircraft can navigate NextGen and international airspace structures.
• Collaborate with external groups and across NAWCAD/NAVAIR to coordinate with program offices regarding evolving civil aviation mandates and data-link requirements.
• Assist in the development of Engineering Data Requirements Agreement Plan (EDRAP) inputs and support the review of flight clearances.
• Perform technical analysis and design reviews to support multiple aircraft program offices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
• Active Secret security clearance required (must be eligible to obtain Top Secret/SCI).
• Knowledge of systems engineering principles related to avionics and navigation systems.
• Working familiarity with Performance Based Navigation (PBN), RNAV, RNP, WAAS/SBAS, and Flight Management Systems (FMS).
• Understanding of civil aviation mandates, FAA regulations, and international airspace requirements (ICAO).
• Ability to analyze technical data and review engineering documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience or academic coursework related to the design, integration, or testing of navigation systems.
• Exposure to civil airspace integration and PNT engineering support.
