Requirements

About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized one-on-one support to campers to foster inclusion and active participation in daily activities.
  • Establish trusting, supportive, and non-judgmental connections with campers, acting as a positive role model.
  • Monitor campers with specific needs and support them using appropriate protocols and procedures.
  • Maintain effective communication with parents, caregivers, and camp staff regarding participant progress and behavioral observations.
  • Ensure the highest standard of health and safety for all campers, volunteers, and staff.
  • Assist with the emotional wellness, personal development, and social growth of campers.
  • Collaborate with the day camp team to support the successful delivery and operation of the summer program.

Requirements

  • Minimum completion of grade eleven.
  • Up to 1 year of experience working with children in a day camp setting.
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person (Canada Summer Jobs Program requirement).
  • Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 29 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods and perform frequent reaching, bending, and stooping.
  • Successful completion of a Police Record Check (vulnerable sector check).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current valid Standard First Aid + CPR & AED (Intermediate First Aid) certification.
