About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal, practical, and moral support to clients in a residential treatment setting
  • Facilitate weekly Step-Work groups and attend in-house 12-step meetings
  • Monitor client activities and well-being, including conducting hourly checks and documenting visual contact
  • Assist with client orientation, rule enforcement, and after-hours intake procedures
  • Administer evening medications and support counsellors with mental health follow-ups
  • Act as a role model for recovery and hold clients accountable to recovery principles
  • Maintain strict client confidentiality in accordance with privacy legislation
  • Assist clients in accessing outside resources such as SMART Recovery or other recovery-based events

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent diploma
  • One year of related experience, preferably in the community social services sector
  • Lived experience with 12-step recovery and a high level of personal stability in recovery
  • Valid Naloxone training, First Aid with CPR, and Mental Health First Aid
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) training (or willingness to be trained)
  • Ability to pass a criminal record check and obtain federal Enhanced Security Clearance
  • Proficiency in basic Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Comfort working in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside and with diverse, vulnerable populations
