Peer Support Worker Mental Health

Responsibilities

• Draw on lived experience to engage with individuals accessing mental health services
• Support individuals to understand their needs, identify challenges, and areas of improvement
• Assist individuals to articulate, implement, and work towards goals in their support plans
• Share relevant lived experience insights when appropriate and within role scope
• Work as part of a team to support program activities and achievement of individual outcomes
• Complete documentation and reporting requirements, including progress notes

Requirements

• Lived experience of mental health challenges
• Ability to reflect on recovery strategies and maintain well-established self-care strategies
• Unrestricted Australian driver’s licence
• First Aid Certificate
• Ability to positively engage and work with people who have complex needs
• National Criminal History Record Check and WA Working with Children Check

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge in educational or vocational activities, community participation, or independent living skills
