Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one peer support to individuals with substance use disorders using lived experience to establish trust
- Assist clients in identifying recovery goals and navigating challenges in their recovery process
- Facilitate peer recovery groups or support meetings
- Act as a role model for healthy coping strategies and positive lifestyle changes
- Link clients to community resources such as housing, employment, and healthcare
- Assist with the development of individualized recovery plans
- Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure comprehensive care
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records of client interactions
- Support clients in managing triggers, high-risk situations, and cravings
Requirements
- Lived experience in recovery from substance use disorder (SUD) or addiction is required
- High school diploma required
- Knowledge of 12-step programs and recovery methodologies
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries
- Ability to pass all Federal and State background checks
Preferred Qualifications
- Peer Support Specialist certification (e.g., CPRS)
- Associate’s degree in a healthcare-related field
- Experience in a behavioral health or SUD treatment setting
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care principles
- Experience facilitating group support meetings
