About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide emotional, moral, and practical support to clients to assist with daily living activities and well-being.
  • Facilitate client participation in 12-step and Step-Work recovery programs while modeling recovery principles.
  • Administer prescribed medications and conduct mental health check-ins and wellness monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate client records, documentation of interactions, and reports of behavioral concerns.
  • Ensure client safety through regular status checks and adherence to facility rules and designated areas.
  • Uphold strict client confidentiality in accordance with FOIP legislation.
  • Collaborate with staff and volunteers to support engagement in recreational or therapeutic activities.

Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • At least one year of related experience in a support or peer mentor role.
  • Certification in Mental Health First Aid.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Naloxone Training.
  • Ability to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, and lifting up to 30 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with individuals displaying challenging behaviors.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, diverse environment.
