About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide emotional, moral, and practical support to clients to assist with daily living activities and well-being.
- Facilitate client participation in 12-step and Step-Work recovery programs while modeling recovery principles.
- Administer prescribed medications and conduct mental health check-ins and wellness monitoring.
- Maintain accurate client records, documentation of interactions, and reports of behavioral concerns.
- Ensure client safety through regular status checks and adherence to facility rules and designated areas.
- Uphold strict client confidentiality in accordance with FOIP legislation.
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to support engagement in recreational or therapeutic activities.
Requirements
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
- At least one year of related experience in a support or peer mentor role.
- Certification in Mental Health First Aid.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Naloxone Training.
- Ability to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, and lifting up to 30 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals displaying challenging behaviors.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, diverse environment.
