About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide expert diagnosis and treatment of pediatric eye conditions, including strabismus, amblyopia, and congenital cataracts
- Perform pediatric ophthalmic surgeries and advanced diagnostic procedures
- Supervise and mentor junior physicians, residents, and fellows
- Collaborate with pediatricians, neurologists, and geneticists on complex case management
- Participate in academic activities, research, and quality improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with SCFHS and hospital policies
Requirements
- Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with a completed residency in Ophthalmology
- Fellowship or subspecialty certification in Pediatric Ophthalmology
- Board certification (e.g., American Board, UK CCT, Arab Board, or equivalent)
- 3–5 years of post-fellowship experience in pediatric ophthalmology
- Mandatory eligibility for SCFHS Consultant classification
- Proficiency in English; Arabic language skills are an advantage
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in managing rare congenital eye disorders
- Strong interpersonal skills for communicating with children and families
- Experience in clinical research or teaching
- Familiarity with EMR systems and digital imaging tools
