About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide close support for a child with type 1 diabetes during preschool hours
- Monitor the child's well-being throughout the day
- Perform finger-prick blood glucose tests
- Monitor blood glucose levels via sensors and/or insulin pumps
- Identify symptoms of high and low blood sugar
- Act according to established routines during glucose deviations
- Support the child during meals, snacks, rest, play, and activities
- Ensure the child can participate safely in all preschool activities
- Maintain daily collaboration with guardians and preschool staff
- Follow self-care plans and instructions from the diabetes team
- Document and report important events as needed
Requirements
- Experience working with children with type 1 diabetes
- Experience working with children
- Experience from preschool or school environments
- Proficiency with insulin pumps and/or CGM/sensors
- Ability to follow strict diabetes routines and instructions
- High level of responsibility, reliability, and presence
- Strong observational skills and ability to act quickly
