Payroll Technician

Responsibilities

• Process weekly payroll for unionized employees and bi-monthly payroll for non-unionized and management staff
• Manage employee benefits, including group insurance and pension plans
• Validate payroll data within systems and perform necessary adjustments to ensure payment accuracy
• Prepare and verify payroll reports and year-end tax statements
• Respond to inquiries from government agencies, managers, and employees regarding payroll and benefits
• Maintain and update personal information and databases
• Ensure compliance with provincial standards, collective agreements, and internal policies

Requirements

• DEC or a relevant diploma in Payroll
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar payroll role
• Proficiency in payroll systems (e.g., Nethris, Employeur D)
• Fluency in French with the ability to communicate in English (written and oral)
• Strong organizational skills, discretion, and attention to detail
• Legal authorization to work and reside in Canada

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a unionized environment
• Knowledge of CCQ payroll processing
