Payroll Team Leader

Responsibilities

• Lead the end‑to‑end payroll process ensuring accuracy and compliance with legislative and industrial requirements
• Provide hands-on people leadership to a team of Payroll Officers
• Act as the primary technical escalation point for complex payroll queries and calculations
• Ensure strong payroll controls, reconciliations, audits, and sign‑off processes are maintained
• Maintain deep understanding of awards, enterprise agreements, and payroll legislation
• Identify and lead process improvement opportunities to reduce manual effort and errors
• Partner with HR, Retail Operations, Finance, and Systems teams to resolve issues
• Manage payroll risks, incidents, and remediation actions
• Ensure payroll documentation and training materials are current and fit for purpose

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience leading payroll operations in a large, complex organisation
• Strong technical payroll expertise including legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements
• Proven experience improving payroll processes, controls, and systems
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and risk awareness
• Experience leading and developing a team in a high‑volume, deadline‑driven environment
