Payroll Tax Analyst II

Responsibilities

• Manage U.S. and Canadian payroll tax activities, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Prepare files and reports for monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll tax processing and filings.
• Reconcile payroll tax reports to the general ledger, 941s, and W-2s, resolving any prior period variances.
• Maintain payroll tax databases, including tax withholding updates, local tax codes, and State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) rates.
• Analyze payroll tax data to ensure accurate and timely deposits.
• Research and resolve inquiries from employees, regulatory agencies, and tax audits, including IRS notices.

Requirements

• 2 years of professional multi-state payroll tax analysis or administration experience.
• Associate's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field emphasizing analytical skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Working knowledge of Federal and State payroll and labor laws.
• Ability to learn and utilize HRIS and payroll software report writing tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Human Resources.
• Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation.
• 2-3 years of relevant multi-state payroll tax experience.
