About the role
Responsibilities
- Supervise and train Payroll staff and monitor daily unit operations
- Monitor and audit authorized payroll and personnel transactions in PMS/NYCAPS
- Assist with oversight of contractual increases and additions-to-gross payments
- Ensure accurate bi-weekly payroll and coordinate submission of required forms
- Administer the review of payroll reports including 160, 161, 700, and 320 reports
- Direct the managerial lump-sum payment process
- Maintain internal control systems to ensure compliance with oversight agencies
- Serve as the agency Security Officer for NYCAPS, PMS, and CHRMS
- Assist employees with ESS functions such as Direct Deposit and Commuter Benefits
- Provide high-level customer service and investigate payroll discrepancies
Requirements
- Must be a current City Employee serving permanently in the title of Administrative Manager or reachable from the most recent civil service exam list
- Baccalaureate degree and 4 years of progressive clerical/administrative experience, including 18 months of supervisory experience; OR
- Associate degree and 5 years of experience, including 18 months of supervisory experience; OR
- High school diploma and 6 years of experience, including 18 months of supervisory experience
