About the role

Responsibilities

  • Execute monthly payroll processing for India and support payroll activities for additional APAC countries in partnership with TMF.
  • Coordinate payroll inputs, validations, approvals, and timelines to ensure accurate and on-time delivery.
  • Validate payroll outputs, including base pay, variable compensation, allowances, statutory deductions, taxes, and benefits.
  • Maintain and audit employee payroll data in Workday, including compensation changes and tax setups.
  • Review payroll reports, identify variances, and investigate discrepancies prior to sign-off.
  • Manage payroll queries and escalations, providing timely resolution to employees and stakeholders.
  • Support statutory compliance requirements, including local filings and remittances.
  • Partner with Finance on payroll reconciliations, accruals, and funding requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and reconciliations.
  • Contribute to payroll process improvements, standardization, and automation initiatives.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of payroll experience, with hands-on responsibility for India payroll.
  • Strong understanding of India payroll statutory requirements (income tax, PF, ESI, PT, gratuity, etc.).
  • Experience using Workday for payroll inputs, reporting, and data validation.
  • Strong analytical and reconciliation skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple payroll calendars and deadlines across different countries.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential employee data with discretion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • APAC regional exposure or experience supporting payroll across multiple APAC countries.
  • Experience working with third-party payroll providers (TMF experience strongly preferred).
  • Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and reconciliation formulas.
  • Familiarity with vendor-managed payroll models and service governance (SLAs).
  • Experience supporting payroll audits and compliance reviews.
  • Prior experience in a fast-growing, multinational, or matrixed environment.
