Payroll Specialist

Responsibilities

• Process weekly multi-state payroll accurately and timely for over 300 employees across several companies
• Maintain accurate employee data, including labor costs against project codes, overtime, accruals, and rate changes
• Manage payroll deductions, including garnishments, benefits, taxes, and direct deposits in compliance with regulations
• Coordinate with Human Resources and Accounting to ensure proper data flow and perform payroll reconciliations
• Handle new hire entries, terminations, and out-of-cycle manual checks
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and tax verifications
• Assist HR with I-9, E-Verify, and benefit invoice auditing
• Maintain and document all payroll records and distribute W-2s

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of payroll administration experience
• Mastery of Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws and wage/hour regulations
• Understanding of company benefits including 401(k), insurance, and voluntary deductions
• Exceptional organizational skills and high attention to detail
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information
• Proven ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Ceridian Dayforce software
• Knowledge of Davis Bacon and Service Contract Act employee payroll regulations
