Payroll Manager

Responsibilities

• Manage semi-monthly, multi-state payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with W-2s, tax filings, and benefits.
• Handle ad hoc payroll processing for stock compensation transactions and mid-period employee exits.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax and labor regulations, including SOX compliance.
• Lead and execute payroll audits, including reconciliations of payroll accounts, tax withholdings, and benefit contributions.
• Prepare and analyze payroll reports to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Partner cross-functionally with Accounting and HR to support employee benefit plan operations and audits.
• Act as the primary escalation point for complex payroll issues and employee inquiries.
• Drive continuous process improvement by identifying opportunities to automate workflows and scale operations.
• Maintain earnings and deduction codes and related GL account mapping.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in payroll and equity accounting.
• Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now.
• Proficiency with Equity Edge Online.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably NetSuite.
• Strong knowledge of payroll tax laws and labor regulations.
• Experience working with auditors and maintaining SOX compliance.
• Ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the biotechnology or life sciences industry.
• Experience working within a public company.
