Payroll Manager

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle payroll for approximately 3,500 employees across multiple states
• Prepare payroll reports, variance analyses, and audit support documentation
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage, hour, and tax regulations
• Implement auditing and quality control processes to ensure accuracy
• Manage payroll tax filings, remittances, and year-end processes
• Provide guidance, training, and workflow oversight to the Payroll Team
• Lead internal and external payroll audits and respond to regulatory inquiries
• Collaborate with Accounting on reconciliations, journal entries, and audits
• Identify and implement process improvements and system enhancements

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in payroll operations across multiple states
• 5+ years of experience managing and motivating direct reports
• Expertise in federal, state, and local payroll and tax regulations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP)
• Experience with payroll and timekeeping system implementations or upgrades
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification
• Experience with UKG (UltiPro) and Workforce Management (Kronos)
