About the role

Responsibilities

  • Own multi-entity, multi-country payroll processes for US and Canada on semi-monthly cycles.
  • Manage payroll tax compliance across federal, state/provincial, and local jurisdictions.
  • Lead quarter-end and year-end processes, including auditing wages and verifying W-2/T4 configurations.
  • Partner with the Equity & Payroll Manager to incorporate RSU vestings, option exercises, and ESPP purchases into payroll runs.
  • Utilize AI and automation tools to reduce manual reconciliation, data flows, and reporting work.
  • Prepare and review payroll journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll inquiries with discretion and accuracy.
  • Co-manage and develop the Payroll and Equity Analyst.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of payroll experience, including distributed, multi-entity organizations.
  • Hands-on expertise in US and Canada payroll, including multi-state/multi-province tax compliance.
  • Experience managing complex edge cases such as final pay deadlines, paid leave programs, and cross-border sourcing.
  • A technology-forward operating style with proficiency in using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) to automate workflows.
  • Exceptional accuracy, organization, and ability to handle highly sensitive, confidential data.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and comfort operating across multiple software systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Rippling payroll and NetSuite.
  • Background in equity/RSU compensation administration (E*TRADE).
  • Payroll certification (CPP / FPC).
  • Prior experience at a high-growth, public, or proptech company.
