Payroll Manager

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end multi-entity, multi-country payroll processes for US and Canada on semi-monthly cycles
• Manage payroll tax compliance across federal, state/provincial, and local jurisdictions
• Lead quarter-end and year-end processes, including auditing wages and verifying W-2/T4 configurations
• Partner with the Equity & Payroll Manager to incorporate RSU vestings, option exercises, and ESPP purchases into payroll runs
• Utilize AI and automation tools to reduce manual reconciliation, data flows, and reporting work
• Prepare and review payroll journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
• Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll inquiries with discretion and accuracy
• Co-manage and develop the Payroll and Equity Analyst

Requirements

• 10+ years of payroll experience, including distributed, multi-entity organizations
• Hands-on expertise in US and Canada payroll, including multi-state and multi-province tax compliance
• Experience managing complex edge cases such as final pay deadlines, paid leave programs, and cross-border sourcing
• Technology-forward mindset with hands-on experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) to automate workflows
• Proficiency with Google Workspace and comfort operating across multiple integrated systems
• Exceptional accuracy, organization, and ability to handle highly sensitive, confidential data

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Rippling payroll systems
• Background in equity/RSU compensation administration (RSU vesting, ESPP, E*TRADE)
• Payroll certification (CPP or FPC)
• Experience with NetSuite
• Prior experience in a high-growth, public, or proptech company
