Payroll Manager

Responsibilities

• Own full-cycle U.S. payroll processing across multiple states, including semi-monthly payroll
• Manage payroll systems for wages, overtime, variable compensation, and reimbursements
• Partner with PEO to establish payroll and compliance requirements for new states
• Administer payroll-related benefits deductions including 401(k), HSA, and FSA
• Coordinate with People Enablement on payroll changes for new hires and terminations
• Respond to employee payroll and benefits inquiries with accuracy and discretion
• Monitor federal, state, and local payroll legislation (FLSA, EEOC) to ensure compliance
• Generate and analyze payroll reports, wage registers, and tax filings
• Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive employee compensation data

Requirements

• Proven experience managing full-cycle, multi-state payroll operations
• Experience in a technology or scale-up startup environment
• Hands-on experience supporting organizations with 500+ employees
• Strong understanding of PEO models and functionality
• In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws
• Experience with complex payroll reporting and annual filings
• Highly organized with strong attention to accuracy and compliance
• Clear and effective communication skills
