About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead a payroll operations team managing end-to-end weekly, fortnightly, and monthly processing for local and international clients
  • Oversee payroll service delivery to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with local rules and legislation
  • Manage a portfolio of clients, providing payroll consulting services and advising on best practice frameworks
  • Support clients with statutory obligations, reporting requirements, and legislative compliance
  • Lead payroll consulting engagements, including preparing advisory reports on risks and process improvements
  • Mentor, coach, and develop junior team members to support their technical and professional growth
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to enhance service delivery and drive operational excellence

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in payroll operations management, ideally within a complex or outsourcing environment
  • Demonstrated expertise in Australian payroll processing, including tax legislation, superannuation, and enterprise agreements
  • Required experience with New Zealand payroll
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically intermediate Excel skills for reporting and analytics
  • Working knowledge of large payroll systems such as Aurion, Chris21, or SAP
  • Certificate IV in Payroll Administration or a Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in payroll transformation programs or payroll consulting projects
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with high attention to detail
